NOMINATIONS OPEN FOR THE INTERNATIONAL FOOTBALL AWARDS 2009 19th January 2009
Ronaldinho? Beckham? Ronaldo? Kaka? So who is the best of them all? Football has brought excitement to a lot of people worldwide. People love the passion of the sport but most importantly the entertainment and attachment this one sport creates on and off pitch. Football is now and has always been the most popular sport celebrated by enthusiastic fans from almost every country in the world. Football fans from around the world are to get their chance to vote for which players they feel deserve recognition, when nominations open this week for the first International Football Awards. From now until the end of February, members of the public can nominate players free of charge in 16 categories at the Awards’ web site – www.internationalfootballawards.com. These nominations will be whittled down to shortlists of four in each category and the Official IFA 2008 nominees will be announced in April at press conferences in eight major cities: Buenos Aires, Rio De Janeiro, Dubai, London, Cape Town, Geneva, Paris and Tokyo. The public will then be able to vote, again free of charge, to choose the winner in each category. The categories include: • Goal of the year • African Footballer of the year • European Footballer of the year • South American Footballer of the year • North, Central American & Caribbean Footballer of the year • Asian Footballer of the year • Best International team • Young player of the year • Best Striker • Best Goalkeeper • Best Referee • Best Midfielder • Best Defender • Best Football magazine (offline/online) • International footballer of the year Invited guests: We will be entertaining over 1250 high net worth clients at the prestigious awards show.
